Alessio Romagnoli has stated that ‘we need to improve, but the team should never give up’ after losing in miserable fashion to Fiorentina.

After 6 rounds of Serie A, Milan sit at 16th place, with just one point separating them from the relegation zone.

The quality of football shown by the Diavolo so far this season is of a team that will fight for its life in the league during the campaign. Yesterday they were embarrassed once again, this time against Fiorentina who beat Milan 3-1 at San Siro. The goals were scored by Erick Pulgar (13′ pk), Gaetano Castrovilli (65′), Franck Ribéry (78′) and Rafael Leão (80′).

“There is not much to say in these cases. We just need to be together. We need to improve, but the team should never give up. We are with the coach until death,” Romagnoli told RAI Italia.

Speaking to MilanTV, the captain added: “We collapsed at the first hurdle, we didn’t stay united and got it all wrong. We accept all responsibility, it’s all our fault. We are really disappointed because, after Torino, we thought we could take another step forward but it didn’t happen.

“To overcome our difficulties, we need to stay united. Despite the problems we’re having, we need to prove that we’re a team. We need to work, stay quiet and stick together. We are fully behind the coach, there’s no question about it. Hopefully, things will pick up from the next game because it has to be so. We need to roll up our sleeves and work together.”
