Real Madrid He discussed Real Madrid’s performance
Emilio Butragueno has made clear that he didn’t expect Real Madrid to draw against Club Brugge in their second game in the Champions League.
Los Blancos‘ director of institutional relations expressed his satisfaction for the team’s reaction, but not for the result.
“It was unexpected match and result,” Butragueno told Movistar Plus.
“We started in the worst possible way and from there the team had courage and the [right] approach, but without success.
“Just before the break they scored a great goal after a mistake [from Luka Modric].
“At the beginning [of the second half] we had the best chances, we made it 2-1 and they had many doubts.
“We weren’t able to equalise until that foul [prior to Casemiro‘s header], but obviously we wanted all three points.
“They have two fast players who have taken advantage of the spaces [behind Real Madrid‘s defence] very well.”
Butragueno went on to stress that Real Madrid need to collect six points from their upcoming back-to-back games against Galatasaray.
“There is no margin for error,” he explained.
“We have to win against Galatasaray, and these two games that we have played will determine what is coming now.”
