Southampton FC Women will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they launch their FA Women’s National League Cup campaign at Larkhall Athletic on Sunday.
Kicking off at 2pm (BST), Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side head to the Securitas Stadium this weekend looking to record a ninth win from their opening 10 matches.
Wednesday’s 4-0 league win against Poole was Saints’ eighth clean sheet of the campaign, as well as their fifth consecutive victory.
Goals from Rachel Panting, Shannon Albuery, Ella Morris and Chloe Newton secured the midweek success, leaving them three points clear at the top of the table; the perfect platform as attention switches to league cup action.
Having seen off Ipswich Town 6-0 in the League Cup preliminary round at Staplewood back in August, the Larkhall game provides Saints with yet another chance to assert their dominance on the south west region of the draw.
Sunday’s meeting between the two sides will be the first in 2019/20 after September’s league encounter was postponed.
