Real Madrid Does not want to depart in January
Donny van de Beek was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but the Ajax midfielder ultimately ended up staying put at the Johan Cryuff ArenA.
As a result, the 22-year-old is ready to see out the 2019/20 campaign with the Dutch giants
“I don’t want to leave during the January transfer window,” Van de Beek told Voetbal International.
“I’ll play here until the end of the season, I’ll finish the year at Ajax. That gives me peace of mind. We’ll see what happens later.
“Do they know that in Madrid? Surely everyone knows. I don’t like the idea of changing teams mid-season.”
Clearly the extent of the rumours in the summer affected the midfielder, which he is glad to see the back of, for the next few months at least.
“There was so much talk and writing,” Van de Beek noted.
“I’m very happy that’s all over because I am able to concentrate on Ajax.”
Now that he is fully focused on Ajax after an uncertain summer, Van de Beek is determined to add to last season’s success.
“I always try to give my best,” he added.
“The club look out for my interests.
“I am happy to be valued and I want to reward that faith with new triumphs.”
