Southampton’s youngsters produced a five star performance against Norwich City in Under-18s Premier League action on Saturday morning.

Teenage striker Sam Bellis, having scored his first goal for the club last week, stole the show with a well executed treble, while midfielder Jack Turner found the net twice to seal the points in the second half.

Full-back James Morris, who also enjoyed a fine game, provided an assist for each of the two scorers, as Saints blew away their Norwich counterparts with their most comprehensive win of the season so far.

The victory lifts Paul Hardyman’s side into ninth, a point behind Arsenal in the position above, and sets them up perfectly for a meeting with Leicester City at Staplewood in a week’s time.

Hat-trick hero Bellis opened the scoring in the sixth minute, turning home from Roland Idowu’s headed knockdown, before claiming his second shortly before the break, giving Saints a commanding first-half lead.

The visitors’ third was worked from back to front, turning defence into attack, as Morris was released down the left in the 53rd minute, before delivering a superb cross towards Turner, who tapped in unmarked.

Bellis netted his third two minutes later from the penalty spot, after being upended himself, sending the goalkeeper left as he slotted right.

Turner completed the scoring in the 61st minute with the pick of the bunch. Kazeem Olaigbe found space on the left wing, and whipped a cross towards the forward run of the midfielder, who side-footed home on the volley.
