Tracey before and after

Before: 157 pounds
After: 125 pounds
Height: 5’2″

Back in 2014 she said, “Six months after chemo was over I had done what I set out to do, which was have breast cancer leave me better than it found me.” I think that is something we can all aspire to: to be better and to feel blessed after life’s trials.

How have you maintained your success?
I have maintained my weight loss by continuing to work out five days a week. As a runner, I tend to do HIIT workouts, intervals, and long runs. I also try to lift at least two days out of the week. The Peloton App is an excellent resource because they have many different classes, and all you need is any treadmill.

As for my diet, I live a plant-based lifestyle, and I do intermittent fasting. I try not to eat past 9pm, and I wait 16 hours to eat again.

As a breast cancer survivor, I have learned not to sweat the small stuff in life. Before breast cancer, I would get stressed out and beat myself up for small failures. Now, if I blow my diet or miss a workout, I don’t sweat it. I pull myself together and get back on track ASAP!

Setting small goals is also a good idea! Once you reach the small goal that you’ve set, set another goal. Keep going!

What keeps you going? What keeps your motivated?
What keeps me going is God’s grace and the desire to inspire and motivate women to take control of their health and fitness. I want women to see me and say, “if she can do it, then so can I!”

What advice would you like to share with women who want to get fit and healthy?
What I would say to women who want to change their lives in a healthy way is that there is NOTHING standing in your way but you! Get out of your own way and get it done. I remember when the doctor told me that I had breast cancer. She said that I would have to jump through hoops to get well. I remember thinking, “Well, show me the hoops!” Once treatment was over, I realized I could jump pretty darn high!

If you get off track, DON’T GIVE UP! Dust off your knees and start again. Just don’t STOP! You have this one life to live, so why not make it GREAT. If I can do it, YOU can too. You will be surprised at how high you can jump!
