Sandro improves Oblaks penalty record by blasting over the bar

Atletico Madrid Another clean sheet for the Slovenian

Rafa Casal

Atletico Madrid have kept a clean sheet in each of their past five matches, but Real Valladolid had a glorious chance to score past Jan Oblak during Sunday’s goalless draw.

Sandro Ramirez stepped up to take the first half penalty that he himself had won, but the striker blasted over the bar to further improve Oblak‘s penalty record.

Not counting shootouts – and, therefore, not counting the famous shootout of the 2016 Champions League final – the goalkeeper has faced 21 penalties since joining Los Rojiblancos and has saved seven of them, while two have been fired off target.

That means just 57 percent of the spot kicks Oblak has faced have gone in.
