LaLiga Could have joined Atletico in August
On August 13, Rodrigo Moreno packed his bags and was ready to set off for Atletico Madrid.
The Estadio Wanda Metropolitano was to become his home after Los Rojiblancos and Valencia agreed to transfer the forward for 60 million euros and he was ready to accompany Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata, Joao Felix and Ivan Saponjic in attack.
But there was still a loose end that needed to be tied up. Angel Correa had to leave Atletico Madrid for AC Milan and the deal couldn’t be wrapped up in the following three weeks.
Milan apparently wanted to cut the price by 10 million euros and Atletico weren’t willing to budge, meaning Correa stayed in the capital and there was no room for the Spaniard.
Time has proved Diego Simeone right again. His forwards haven’t been scoring and it’s clear that they need another top-level striker to help carry the load of goals.
Rodrigo was the man he had chosen and the failure to sign him left the coach frustrated.
Sixty-seven days later, Rodrigo‘s bags are packed for a trip to the Wanda Metropolitano again. Only this time Simeone will be paying close attention to him as a threat to his own defence.
