Pepe Reina was shown the red card against Torino last night and he will therefore miss the Fiorentina game.
Yesterday, Milan lost for the third time this season as after taking the lead in the 18′ minute through a Krzysztof Piątek penalty, they missed a lot of great chances, and ended up conceding twice, with Andrea Belotti begging a brace (72′ and 76′)
Belotti’s first goal, however, was quite controversial, as in the build-up that led to Torino’s counter-attack and eventual equalizer, Hakan Çalhanoğlu appeared to have been fouled.
The Milan bench was furious after the goal and the decision of referee Marco Guida to allow it, and goalkeeper Pepe Reina stepped up and yelled some words at Guida. The ref did not like the behavior of the 37-year-old substitute and showed him the red card. Today, the Serie A Sport Judge confirmed the punishment of Reina and provided some more details about the incident.
The Sport Judge explained that Reina was sent off for “having, in the 72′ minute, gotten up from the bench and entering the playing field, contesting a refereeing decision with disrespectful attitude and words.” Pepe’s punishment is a one-match suspension and a €5,000 fine.
Reina will therefore be missing Sunday’s game against Fiorentina on Sunday at Stadio San Siro.
