Reports suggest that the Bulgarian prime minister has demanded the resignation of the head of the country’s football association after England players were racially abused in a European qualifier in Sofia on Monday.

The game was interrupted twice due to the severity of the racist chants by the home fans in the stadium in the game which England won 6 nil.

Prime minister Boyko Borissov has asked the sports minister to ensure that all relations with the Bulgarian Football Union are suspended, including financial ones until Borislav Mihaylov tenders his resignation from the position.

Before the game, Mihaylov complained to UEFA about unjust branding as the build-up to the game was overshadowed by suggestions that racial abuse would be meted against English players. Well, it was the case.
