Paper Talk: Man Utd deny contract rift with star man; Leicester fearing the worst about future of key player

Manchester United have denied rumours that they are being held ransom by Paul Pogba over a new deal for the Frenchman, while Leicester are fearful that one star man could be snapped up – all in Sunday’s papers.

Manchester United have denied rumours that Paul Pogba could leave the club unless he is handed a bumper new £600,000 per week contract.

The French World Cup winner – who has been the subject of much speculation over a move to Real Madrid – has two years left on his current Old Trafford deal.

According to the Sunday Mirror, United are in no rush to begin talks over extending Pogba’s contract and handing him a wage hike.

However, a United source told the newspaper: “Pogba’s only focus right now is trying to be fit to help his team-mates. Reports of him demanding £600,000-a-week to stay aren’t true. Paul has two years left on his contract so time is on our side in terms of discussions on a new deal.

“The club made it clear in the summer that we want Paul at United and that remains the case.”
