Chelsea face Lille tonight in a match that has probably become a must win for the Blues.

Obviously we are only one match into the group stages of the Champions League, but confidence and momentum in this competition is so important and Chelsea need to get those first three points on the board.

It will be a difficult place to go and get a win, but Chelsea must do the one thing that they didn’t do against Brighton on Saturday, and if they do it, they’ll have no problem bringing home the three points.

Chelsea registered 24 shots at goal against Brighton, getting 10 of those on target. However, they missed a whole host of clear-cut chances during the game and it took a penalty in the 50th minute to break the deadlock.

Their usual reliable goalscorers Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have both missed a couple of clear chances in recent matches so it is important that when presented with a chance tonight that they hold their nerves and bury it. Obviously not just these two, but they are already the ones being leaned on for goals.

The Blues have no problem controlling games and creating chances, they should be able to do that again tonight in France. But they need to get those chances buried and preferably early on in the game to take the pressure off.

The longer is stays at stalemate, the fans and the players will start to believe that they can get something out of it, exactly how Valencia managed to win at Stamford Bridge just a couple of weeks ago.

In similar stats to Saturday, Chelsea registered 22 shots at goal and hit 8 on target. But obviously they failed to convert any chances, with Ross Barkley also missing a penalty.

Valencia held that belief that they could get something out of the game and took their chance, putting Chelsea in the position that they are in tonight needing a win.

The message is clear, do what you have been doing, but take your clear-cut chances.
