Real Madrid vs Club Brugge Substituted due to stomach problems
Thibaut Courtois was replaced at half-time of Real Madrid‘s game against Club Brugge, at which point the Belgian side led 2-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The goalkeeper felt ill with stomach problems, after being whistled at from Los Blancos‘ supporters following Brugge‘s second goal.
Brugge scored two times from three shots in the first half and when Courtois touched the ball, after conceding the second goal, the crowd jeered him twice.
The former Chelsea shot-stopper struggled in the first stretch of the season but managed to keep a clean sheet in the recent matches away from home at Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
Alphonse Areola replaced Courtois at the break and made a vital save to prevent Brugge from going 3-0 ahead, before Madrid went on to grab two goals with the final scoreline being 2-2.
