Michael Owen made two predictions ahead of Newcastle United’s game with Man Utd.
Owen predicting that it would end in a draw and there would be less than two goals in the game.
He got one right.
No surprise really as Newcastle now still haven’t scored more than one goal in any of their nine games and Man Utd haven’t scored more than once in any game since the opening day of the season.
That was a 4-0 hammering of Chelsea at Old Trafford, the early signs that the two clubs were going to have very different seasons.
Which actually has come true, although not in any way that the opening day indicated.
Whilst Manchester United have made their worst ever start to the season, under new boss Frank Lampard, Chelsea are on the up and playing some very nice football & scoring loads of goals.
Chelsea have only lost to Liverpool in the Premier League since that opening day and have scored 17 goals in their last six PL games.
If Newcastle are to stand any chance of getting anything, then you fancy they will have to score and probably more than one, something they have failed to do in any game under Steve Bruce.
Michael Owen once again makes two predictions and forecasts Newcastle to score but still to lose.
Nobody has had more clean sheets than Martin Dubravka (three) in the Premier League this season and Chelsea are actually one of only four clubs to have conceded more goals (14) than Newcastle (13).
You have to accept that it is likely to have to be a game of very few goals if Newcastle are to get anything because if it gets very open, you struggle to see where the NUFC chances and goals will come from.
Alternatively, just maybe this could be the game when Joelinton, ASM and Almiron all click against a team that will leave spaces for the counter-attack.
Michael Owen talking to BetVictor:
“Newcastle were outstanding against a poor Manchester United side at St James Park in their last game and thoroughly deserved the points.
“Although I think they will do well to keep this exciting young Chelsea side at arm’s length at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea have won their last four games in all competitions and look full of goals at present.
“Frank Lampard’s side have come a long way in a short space of time since their heavy opening-weekend defeat at Old Trafford.
“Tip: Chelsea to win and both teams to score 15/8.”
