Lionel Messi is back.

He has put his injuries behind him and he showed against Inter on Wednesday that he’s still the man who, more than anyone else, makes Barcelona click.

Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde have their leader and their most important player back.

Messi is a scourge for any opponent as very few teams can say they’ve come up against him and not suffered, but Sevilla particularly struggle as they’ve conceded 36 goals to him in 37 meetings.

The Argentine has scored against Sevilla 28 times in just 25 LaLiga Santander matches, averaging 1.2 goals per game against them.

He has scored two hat-tricks and, on top of that, he’s bagged a brace on six occasions.

Injuries have prevented him from playing much so far this season, but he’s arriving into round eight recovered and nearing top form, at least judging him on his game against Inter in midweek.

He’s only had minutes in two LaLiga Santander games – Granada and Villarreal – and in two Champions League games, but it was only in his last appearance that he looked to be back.

The No.10 terrorised Inter and was key in Luis Suarez‘s equalising goal.

Messi will present his The Best Player 2019 trophy at the Camp Nou before kick-off and, once the game starts, he’ll be looking to show Sevilla exactly why he won it.
