Barcelona Thinks Inter have a chance
Inter icon Marco Materazzi sees no reason for the Italian side to fear Barcelona ahead of their game on Wednesday evening.
Materazzi was part of the Inter squad who beat the Catalan club on their way to winning the 2009/10 Champions League.
“Barcelona are always strong, but they don’t scare their opponents anymore,” he said.
“They’re not the team of 2010, that will never come back.
“Now they have three or four phenomenons on the pitch.
“Back then there were 10 and an alien named [Lionel] Messi.”
Messi is a doubt for the game on Wednesday and, although the Italian would like to see him play, he’d be happy for Inter if he were to be ruled out.
“Firstly, they have to keep a clean sheet,” he said when asked how Inter can win.
“Barcelona have doubts because Messi is still unfit.
“We’ll see what happens and if he plays.
“I’ll be disappointed for football if not, but it’ll be good for Inter because he is everything.”
Should the No.10 make it then Materazzi has no advice for stopping him.
“It’s impossible [to stop him],’ he admitted.
“You have to hope he has a bad day.”
Inter are competing with Juventus for the title this season in Serie A, which Materazzi puts down to their solidity.
“They concede very few goals,” he explained.
“Everyone is well organised behind the ball and they’re very difficult to play against.”
