Marquez clinches his eighth MotoGP world title

MotoGP Overtook Quartararo on the last lap

Marc Marquez triumphed in the Thailand Grand Prix on Sunday and he has been crowned MotoGP World Champion for the eighth time in his career.

The Spaniard won his ninth race this season at the Chang International Circuit, after overtaking Fabio Quartararo on the last lap.

Although the 20-year-old Frenchman maintained the first position for the vast part of the race, Marquez began launched his attack with four laps to go.

Quartararo resisted until the very last moment, but his rival managed to overtake him and celebrate the victory that gave him the title.

At the age of 26, Marquez joins the elite of the MotoGP world champions, being just one title shy of matching Valentino Rossi‘s nine triumphs.
