Real Madrid Previous Real Madrid goal was vs the same opponent

Real Madrid thought they had already secured all three points against Granada at 3-0 up, however two late goals from the visitors cast nerves around the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, nerves which were only lifted when James Rodriguez conjured up a goal to hand his side breathing room once again.

Few expected the Colombian to still be at Real Madrid in the 2019/20 season, but this is how the cards have been dealt and, in truth, the former Monaco playmaker is making the best of his situation this term.

Saturday’s goal was his first of the season, and his first for the club since May 6, 2017, when he also scored against Granada by netting twice in a 4-0 victory.

Saturday’s was a goal which fans in the stadium desperately desired, not just because it secured the victory but because the playmaker remains a fan favourite.

Emotion took hold of James as soon as the ball hit the net, with the Colombian removing his shirt and running towards his adoring public.

Zinedine Zidane only turned to the playmaker when the match became tricky, and it now will be interesting to see if he is rewarded with more playing time after the international break.
