Arsenal prepared to loan out Mesut Ozil in January and pay a proportion of the player’s wages in the process, according to the Mirror.
The shock news coming from the Mirror won’t be much of a surprise to Arsenal fans, who despite their love for the player over the years, can see a player who is not getting in the team on a regular basis.
Ozil is currently the Gunners’ top earner on £350,000-a-week, and the Mirror report that Arsenal are keen to take the players wages off their books, even if it’s just a proportion with a loan deal.
The German World Cup Winner has started just one Premier League game this season, and at 30-years-old is struggling to get in to Unai Emery’s plans.
It is not just his lack of first-team opportunities that are the key motivator behind a potential January move, Ozil also had the added stress of the security scare he suffered with team mate Sead Kolasinac this summer.
