Trent Alexander-Arnold has talked up the impact Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has had on his career, stating that the German has given him “everything”.

The right-back was handed his senior debut in the Premier League by Klopp in January 2017, and Alexander-Arnold has made close to 100 appearances for the club, having only turned 21 this week.

He has made more appearances than Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard at the same age.

Two of Alexander-Arnold’s 97 appearances included the 2018 and 2019 Champions League finals, with the  defender being the youngest player to ever to make successive appearances in Europe’s showcase event.

Alexander-Arnold credited Klopp for enabling him to become a success with the club he joined as a six-year-old.

Asked what Klopp has done for him, the 21-year-old told “Everything.

“He’s obviously put a lot of trust and faith in me personally and I’ve tried to repay him every time he’s done that. Obviously a massive thanks to him and hopefully there will be four more years of success.

“Within his first few weeks, he was down at the Academy watching the young lads. That almost gave us a bit more faith and gave a statement to the club that he is going to use young players and give us them chances.

“He’s shown over the four-year period that he has given them young players the chances and given opportunities – and obviously I’m one of them youngsters that have been given them.”
