Spring Makeup Ideas: Shimmering Shades of Green

urban decay mildew

I call this “the look that almost never was.” Like “the land that time forgot.” LOL. It happened on accident last week while CoyCoy was napping in her fort.

You know how wet leaves seem to look greener and lusher and shinier than usual under a gray spring sky? (Or is that just to me?) I swear, it’s like the color transitions are more obvious. Even in a blade of grass, it’s easy to see where the moss green fades into a dark forest green.

I wanted a similar vibe of wet, green gradients on my lids, so I took out some NARS neutrals, along with a healthy handful of Urban Decay green shadows (they do the most technicolor greens; so does Make Up For Ever), with the intention of doing just my left eye with green, and then a completely different look on the other eye just for fun. Side note: Do you ever do this, too?

Look breakdown

Anyway, I liked it enough to keep going, and then this happy makeup accident happened.

urban decay mildew

I’m wearing golden brown and beige mattes in my crease with a sweep of olive green in the lower portion of my crease. On my lids, I’m wearing metallic moss green in the center for a slight “halo” effect, with a darker forest green on the outer corner… That’s also reflected on the lower lash line (see the lighter section in the middle there?). The inner corner has a bright kelly green spotlight/highlight for a purposeful clash of color!

Weirdly enough, sometimes adding more product makes it easier

I’m wearing a lot of different eyeshadows in this look, which is far from the streamlined makeup I’ve mostly been wearing the past few months.

spring green products
There’s a lot, I know.

Follow the trail of greens!

You know what I realized, though? If I’m going for a look that’s gradient intensive, it’s actually easier for me to throw everything and the kitchen sink in (a.k.a. more eyeshadows), rather than trying to make it work with, like, just two shades.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive (and maybe it is), but when I’m going for lots of shifts from light areas to dark points, it’s easier for me to make everything look seamless when there are more shades involved.

Think about what you can nix

That does not mean that, just because you do a complicated eye, everything else has to be complicated as well.

Of course you can go wild with everything if you want to, but I think that when you have bright, elaborate eye, it helps to pull back somewhere else on your makeup.

Like here, I’m not wearing anything as a base — no concealer, no foundation, no powder. I’m wearing Elta MD Sunscreen, and that’s it! And it’s exactly how I would wear the skin with eye makeup like this in real life.

I also tried skipping brow pencil and just using a clear brow gel, but it felt like there was something missing…like I needed something to frame the big lashes and the dramatic lower lash line. So, I filled in my brows a little, and it fell into place.

See what you can pare down and edit out!

The clash combo

Speaking of playing, I gotta call out the kelly green inner corner highlight here. I typically don’t to this (would normally go for a warm gold), but I wanted to try a shade of green that would purposefully clash with the moss and olive tones, and I ended up really loving how it turned out. I will definitely wear this “clash combo” again with different colors (maybe purple next!).

To get the color just right, I mixed a kelly green shimmery shadow with a shimmery white (UD Current with Glitch, both from the new Wired palette) on the back of my hand, then used a pencil brush to apply to the inner corners.

Same swatches, another angle!

I like how it turned out!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Lonnie and Carrie’s Wheat Belly journey

Living the Wheat Belly and Undoctored lifestyle will not rid our lives of all adversity. But it can make you stronger, more optimistic, and resilient. Here is Lonnie and Carrie’s story:

“One year ago today, my life changed in unthinkable ways. I discovered the Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox book and read it during my kids’ spring break. I had dabbled in the ‘paleo’ diet world a bit over the last five years with inconsistent success and had some idea about how good I felt when eliminating grains…

“But the protocols in this book seemed to go further then just diet, like addressing vitamin, nutrient, hormone, and gut flora deficiencies from living our modern lifestyles and eating the ‘civilized’ diet. I knew deep down that if nothing else I needed to try this detox for 10 days, and asked my wife to begin this journey with me…

“We decided to start on a Friday so that we had the weekend to deal with the detox symptoms (which honestly was not that difficult for us). We made it through the first 5 days, and by day 6 I felt like a completely different person!!! Better sleep, much more energy, and an almost euphoric feeling that I cannot describe. This feeling continued for days, then weeks, then months. The weight poured off of us with little physical effort (over 80 lbs between us, 40+ each). Brain fog was gone. Aches and pains disappeared. Food tasted better. We received countless compliments about how much younger we looked. But there’s much more . . .

“Given our present circumstances, immune function is on all of our minds. My wife and I have not gotten sick in the last year. We had influenza A, stomach viruses, sore throats, and colds come through our house from our kids who are in school, and we did not get any of it. No flu shot. No need for over the counter meds. No antibiotics. We’ve stayed healthy and I have zero doubts that it’s due to the Wheat Belly lifestyle.

“But the most important positive change in our lives has been our moods, feelings of well being, and ability to handle our grief that we’ve had shadowing us for almost a decade. We lost our son Bryce on 10/10/10 and have been struggling bereaved parents ever since. We’ve gone through periods of deep depression and even suicidal ideation over the years. But since changing our diets and lives through this lifestyle, we’ve been better able to move through our grief and deal with our day to day pain that at times felt impossible. Our moods, emotional coping abilities, and gratitude for being alive have increased tenfold. It’s difficult to put into words really, but it’s true. I cannot begin to thank Dr. Davis enough for this…

“I am currently enrolled in the Undoctored U Program and I look forward to helping others thrive and heal as I have.

“If you have found this page and Dr. Davis’s books, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!! Lean on this community. Lean on each other. Stick with this, you will never regret it!!!

“Stay healthy and well all.

Lonnie & Carrie”

Vegan Ingredients: What They Are and Why You Should Care

Going vegan is having a moment: Beyoncé’s done it, as has Kim Kardashian, just to name a very few. But being vegan is nothing new. For many, famous or otherwise, it’s been the status quo for years — and that’s also the case for Glow Recipe’s ingredient lineup.

Glow Recipe’s entire line is built on the idea of pairing antioxidant-rich fruit extracts with gentle actives — so going plant-based is pretty much a no-brainer. Being vegan and cruelty-free is central to the brand’s formulations, and has been a part of its ethos from the beginning. Even before Glow Recipe was creating products of its own, the site only offered products that fell into the cruelty-free category. And today, every product that GR offers — with the exception of only the Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask, which harnesses the power of manuka honey — are vegan and cruelty-free.

Not only are these types of ingredients better for animals and for the environment, but they’re just as potent as their animal-derived counterparts. “Studies show that vegan ingredients can be appropriate substitutes for non-vegan ones,” says board-certified dermatologist Caren Campbell, MD. “The source — vegan versus non-vegan — shouldn’t matter as long as the compound is stated and the concentration is equal.”

With that in mind, why wouldn’t we use vegan actives? Scroll through for the ones you’ll find in our products, and why we love to slather them on our faces.

The ingredient: Vegan squalane

The swap: Shark oil-derived squalane

Where you’ll find it: Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream, Pineapple-C Bright Serum, Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask, Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask

Why we love it: Squalane has become one of the buzziest moisturizing ingredients on the shelf, thanks to its smooth texture and anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. While there are a number of different sources of the stuff — it can come from things like olive oil and sugarcane, or be produced in a lab from bacteria and yeast — the cheapest and easiest way to get it is by way of shark liver oil. A  2012 report showed that nearly three million sharks were killed each year to meet the demand of the shark liver oil market, and a follow-up study from 2015 found that you can still find shark-derived squalane in beauty products. At Glow Recipe, we only use squalane derived from sugarcane and sugarbeets. Not only is our version cruelty-free, but it’s also just as good as the non-vegan version. “The source shouldn’t matter as long as it’s the same concentration,” says Dr. Campbell.

The ingredient: Vegan retinol

The swap: Animal-derived retinol

Where you’ll find it: Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask, Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask

Why we love it: Cell turnover is the holy grail of skin-care, and using retinol is the best way to fast-track the process. “The efficacy of vegan vs non-vegan retinol should be the same if the chemical compound is the same,” says Dr. Campbell. While some of the more potent prescription retinoids out there like tretinoin and adapalene have to come from animal sources, retinol (the over-the-counter version) can be plant-based, which is what we use in our products. It will help to stimulate new cells rising to the surface and replacing old dead ones, leaving your complexion glassy and smooth.

The ingredient: Coconut oil

The swap: Lanolin

Where you’ll find it: Watermelon Glow Lip Pop

Why we love it: Lanolin, an oil common in lip balm that serves as an emollient, comes from sheep’s wool — making it non-vegan — and could potentially cause rashes and irritation in those with sensitive skin. Coconut oil is a great plant-based alternative, and has moisturizing and emollient powers that will leave your lips baby-soft. It also helps to prevent transepidermal water loss, which means that not only will our Watermelon Glow Lip Pop hydrate your lips immediately after you apply it, but it will help keep them that way all day long.

The ingredient: Natural, plant-based colors

Where you’ll find it: All of our skincare products

Why we love it: Brightly-colored products in your collection might look pretty in a #shelfie, but did you know that those bright pigments could come from crushed insects? Carmine, for example, is a dye that comes from beetle shells and is used to give red lipsticks their color. Plant-based colors—which are used in all of Glow Recipe’s skincare—can be just as bold as what’s derived from dead bugs, but a lot less gross.

The Ingredient: Lactic Acid

Where you’ll find it: Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, Pineapple-C Bright Serum

Why we love it: Lactic acid is known to be the gentlest of the exfoliating acids, making it suited for dry and sensitive skin types while also effective enough to work on oily and acne-prone ones, too. It’s well-known as the “milk” acid — its name comes from the word “lactose,” which is what it’s derived from — but what you may not realize is that it can also come from fermented fruits and vegetables. “The source, whether from dairy or fruits and vegetables, doesn’t matter,” says Dr. Campbell. “It is the same chemical compound and should have the same efficacy as a chemical exfoliant and moisturizer.”

Bobbi Bright Eyes Palette 2010

Exactly a decade ago, Bobbi Brown surprised us all with a colourful palette. I mean, at the time, the brand was known exclusively for ten thousand shades of beige so this really did appear out of the blue and unexpectedly. I think it’s still my favourite thing that ever came from the brand even though I’ve never used it. In ten years, I don’t think the colours have faded one little bit.

Bobbi Brights Eye Palette

And, for what is pretty much a standard sized palette these days, she managed to cram in 35 shades! All matte by the way.

Bobbi Brights Eye Palette

The dots of colour are really small – maybe under a centimetre each so they really are just little dots but manage to go across the colour spectrum of brights fairly comprehensively.

Bobbi Brights Eye Palette

Back in 2010, the palette would set you back $70 and it was really before the days when super-expensive palettes were standard. There’s a mirror incorporated and the whole thing expands out so the 35 colours sit in front of you with the mirror propped at the end.

Bobbi Brights Eye Palette

The palette is about the same proportions as a larger iPhone (a bit thicker) to give you an idea of size. If you want to see swatches, Temptalia has some HERE. I know that the brand ventures into brighter shades now but ten years ago, they really didn’t (other than red lipstick and gloss) so it really was stepping out of the box for them at the time. A lot has changed for the Bobbi brand but I think this signifies a moment in time when Bobbi was a) more in control, creatively and b) felt a shift for something different. If it came back, would you buy it?

DIOR Diorlight Jewelled Make Up Necklace 2007

We are swinging back to the Dior Holiday 2007 collection with this ball of bling. Dior were so good at these novelty limited editions – quite often referencing jewellery (as you’ll see in later posts) and in this instance, using Swarovski crystals to give it extra sparkle.

DIOR Diorlight Jewelled Make Up Necklace

It came wrapped in a black velvet back with CD embossed tissue paper around the ball.

DIOR Diorlight Jewelled Make Up Necklace

If you peel back the layers and think about how these products actually emerge into existence, they start with an innovation team who often have to devise made-to-measure tools to bring the ideas to life. These are expensive to produce – they all have to be hand wrapped for a start without relying on machinery to deal with that, as well as – I imagine – the crystals being hand applied because I don’t see any other way to do it. I guess that’s why these special items were always limited edition.

DIOR Diorlight Jewelled Make Up Necklace

In 2007 this retailed for £54 – when I looked across Ebay the price now ranges from £79 to about £110 for this particular item.

DIOR Diorlight Jewelled Make Up Necklace

Inside, there’s a sparkly pale pink lip gloss called Pink Gem. There was a beige shade too but that I believe was USA only – for us in the UK it was pink or nothing. I can’t tell you how fast these would sell out – I remember hearing a story of someone who flew to the Isle of Man to pick up the very last one in stock in the country. Even for 2007, it seems a very eighties thing – chunky and over the top – perhaps something Edina from AbFab would wear. Dior doesn’t seem to produce this type of thing any more which is really a shame but perhaps they just got too expensive to make.

VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack Review Photos Price

Today I will be reviewing VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack. This VLCC’s ayurveda range product is free from parabens. Here is my take on this.VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack Review Photos Price

Face packs and ubtans are my favourite weekly clean up product for problem free skin. I love using homemade multani mitti face packs but the biggest issue with that is the time and effort needed to put up with a homemade mask.

Plus, it needs too much trying and testing to decide on the exact quantity of ingredients to make an effective homemeade ubtan or pack.

So, I sometimes rely on readymade face packs. When I have ample amount of time in hand, I twick the store-bought packs with my secret ingredients and they become tailor-made for my skin.

About VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack

VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack is a true miracle of Nature + Science. This face pack deep cleanses the skin, fights acne & pimples, evens out skin tone & brightens the complexion. Unlike other face packs, this face pack does not cause dryness.

1. Tightens the skin, removes deep impurities, cools & soothes the skin

2. Regenerates new skin cells, hydrates & calms the skin

3. Disinfects the skin & enhances blood circulation

4. Excellent emollient properties for moisturizing dry skin

5. Offers antiseptic and astringent properties to treat acne skin

6. Helps skin to lock in moisture

VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack Review Photos Price

Packaging: It comes in a white plastic squeeze tube. It has flip-top cap which dispenses required product. The packaging is hygienic and travel-friendly.

The face pack is free from harmful preservatives so the packaging ensures the safety of the product inside and prevents contamination. The pack mentions complete ingredients list with amount detail which I find amazing.

Colour & Consistency: The pack is free from artificial colorants. It has the colour of multani mitti which is the main ingredient. The consistency is medium. It does not feel very drying on the skin as it contains oils of sunflower, lavender and rose.

Its texture is smooth. There is no gritty particle in this pack. So, all skin type people can use this.VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack Review Photos Price

Fragrance: This pack has amazing herbal fragrance. Its smell is a soothing mix of lavender and rose. The smell does not feel too strong yet it supplies a fresh burst to my senses. Major part of the fragrance goes off as you wash the pack off your face. Just a faint hint remains for a few minutes.

Quantity & Price: VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack comes at Rs.120 for 100gm. The price is okay at MRP considering the ingredients used. VLCC often come up with alluring discounts online all their offline stores give 10-15% discounts all the time.

You can buy it at good price. This pack has has no other sizes available. Even if you are a first time user, you have to buy the 100gm size; no way to test the travel size.

My Overall Thoughts:

Multani mitti suits my acne-prone combination skin quite well so I always buy readymade face packs with this magic clay. Only multani mitti can cause dryness but this VLCC face pack contains multani mitti as base, aloe extract, oils of rose, sunflower and lavender.

The combinations seemed killer so I wasted no time to get this one. I have been using this pack a lot. I am on the verge of finishing my second tube.

Unlike most multani mitti based packs, VLCC Ayurveda Multani Mitti Face Pack does not get cracking dry easily. It stays moist for long and soaks up only the excess oil from my skin. I apply it on my slightly moist freshly clenased skin.

I keep it for about 8-12 minutes. As it gets dry, it feels relaxing and cooling due to moisture evaporation.

The awesome fragrance soothes the senses. After application the skin definitely feels smoother, softer to touch and pores look minimized temporarily.

I sometimes add a little rice flour and honey to to create my own ubtan. It does not irritate the sensitive parts of my face or cause acne outbreak.

Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash Review Photos

Liril launched three body washes last summer and this mint body wash was one of them. Let’s hop to the review to see Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash is worth your money or not.Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash Review Photos

Body washes are my favourite body care product in summer. A soothing and cooling body wash freshens up the skin and brings a lively vibe to the senses. Citrus based body washes are my best buddies in summer.

I also like cooling menthol based ones. I like gel based body wahses that do not leave creamy residue on skin.

Cream shower gels are best for winters when my skin needs a boost of moisture every now and then. Today I am going to share my views on Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash. Liril body washes and soaps always lure me when I am at grocery stores.

About Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash

The ingredients in Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash gives you a thick lather which lends a sense of freshness after every shower and makes bathing an enjoyable experience.

Liril Bodywash gives you a fragrance which not only lasts whole day long but also keeps your skin healthy, it ensures that your skin gets the best care and stays fresh after every wash.Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash Review Photos

Packaging: This body wash comes in a transparent plastic bottle with black cap. The sleek and tall bottle looks chic in your shower. It is a sturdy and leak-proof bottle.

Still, I won’t say it’s travel-friendly due to its size. You caneasily open the screw part of the flip-top lid to pour some product out in your travel skin care bottle.

The attractive label graphics need a special mention here. Complete ingredients list is given. From this you can get a idea of what this wash is made up of.

Colour & Consistency: This shower gel is brilliant blue in colour and its texture is medium. It is a low foaming gel based body cleanser. It contains a milder version of sulphate which causes moderate lather.

It does not have any scrub granules. The formula is smooth. The texture reminds me of Himalaya’s Neem face wash.

Fragrance: It has energizing mint fragrance. The fragrance feels freshening. I love mint fragrance so I use this wash generally on days I am tired and overworked. The fragrance does not linger long just like other body washes.Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash Review Photos

Quantity & Price: Liril Wake Up Fresh is priced at Rs.180 for 250ml. This is the only size available. This come under Rs.200 which I find good considering the quantity and quality. During online sales the price comes down to around 150.

My Overall Thoughts:

Though my facial skin is combination and acne-prone, my body skin is normal to dry. I haven’t faced body acne issues plus my body skin is not sensitive.

These are the reasons I try and test as many new products as I want. This body wash’s bright blue colour and mint fragrance made me buy it.

I kind of adore gel based body washes and this wash too have become a favourite of mine. It deep cleanseds my skin and gets rid of sweat, dirt and excess oil. My skin feels squeaky clean after using this.

Liril Wake Up Fresh! Cooling Mint Body Wash leaves a light tingly feel to the skin which adds up to its freshening formula. It removes sweaty and foul odour so I use it after workout. This is a great summer body wash but in winter the formula might feel a bit drying.

Rating: 4.5/5

Floral Street Electric Rhubarb Fragrance
I’ve said it before, but I LOVE unique fragrances. I’m not one to go mainstream when it comes to choosing a new perfume. The tantalising notes blend floral and fruity nuances for a perfect spring-approved scent. Better yet, the bottle looks great on your dresser.

Garnier Hair Food Banana Shampoo
As cheesy as it sounds, the one thing that has got me through self-isolation is imagining my days as if I were somewhere else; somewhere exotic. Garnier’s Hair Food Banana Shampoo combines natural oils and bananas from Costa Rica, and that’s a great place to mentally be right now.

Garnier Hair Food Banana Conditioner
I couldn’t select the Shampoo without the complementing Conditioner. As lightweight as its partner, this conditioner not only envelops hair with a fruity scent, it absorbs instantly to nourish and smooth every strand.

COLAB Dreamer Dry Shampoo
Working from home has been a great opportunity to retrain my hair into needing less washes. COLAB’s Dry Shampoo is one of my favourites for effectively absorbing oil to instantly refresh roots with an invisible, lightweight finish. No white residue here, ladies!

Code 8 Precision Liquid Eyeliner – Carbon Black
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt recently, it’s that putting makeup on for video calls can make you feel instantly better. This amateur-friendly, water-resistant ink liner is perfect for faking your eight hours, instantly widening eyes and making you look more awake. Perfect.

Revlon Kiss Cloud Blotted Lip Colour – Whipped Hazelnut
I’m not going to lie, I selected this purely for its name. Who doesn’t need a bit of whipped hazelnut in their life? This product is new to me, so I thought isolation would be a great time to experiment with new formulas.

Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Palette (Medium)
A seemingly popular choice within the first drop, this gorgeous eyeshadow palette is perfect for creating a soft smokey eye. Ideal for creating both day and night looks, I can’t get enough of the rich mix of spicy tones and blendable textures.

Eylure PROMAGNETIC Eyeliner and Lash System – Faux Mink Wispy
If you haven’t tried magnetic lashes, you have to try these, they’re SO easy to use. It’s the easiest lash application I’ve ever encountered, creating a whole new look in just under five minutes. They’re also reusable so totally worth the money!

Amanda Harrington Natural Rose Body Mousse
We all know we love a tanning product. It was my first time trying this tan and it definitely won’t be the last. The formula is super hydrating, so you don’t get those awful scaly patches when it starts to fade.

Jo Loves Gardenia Votive Candle
Another popular choice, this fragrance is so fresh and amazing for adding a touch of spring to your home.

Beauty Kitchen Abyssinian Oil Handbag Beauty Balm
This brand is a leader in sustainability with incredible products to match. This product especially is a great multitasker; cleanser, hand balm, cuticle moisturiser, you name it there’s a use for it.

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polish – Venus
Definitely one of the best affordable nail polishes on the market – such a great finish and a really wearable colour with a long-lasting formula. It ticks all the boxes.

Clé de Peau Beauté Le Sérum
Serum is where I like to focus on getting results and this brand is a true luxury to have among my stash. Not only does it help skin defend itself against stressors, it also works to prime skin for your next skincare steps.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum
I love that this product harnesses Microbiome technology and delivers a formulation to die for. It’s an important first step of every beauty routine.

Paula’s Choice Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser
For active skincare, Paula’s Choice is my go to. Their Salicylic products are second to none and are completely non-irritating.

Heath Hand Salve
This hardworking, non-greasy salve is just what I need right now given all the handwashing.

The INKEY List Polyglutamic Acid
This brand has taken the market by storm and for good reason. Naturally found in the skin, polyglutamic acid can hold four times more moisture than hyaluronic acid, making it the best skin hydrator.

Le Labo Santal 33
This classic scent is one of the best in the business – it’s spicy, leathery and musky and can be worn by both sexes.

Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle
I really rate this product and it’s perfect for your post workout shower!

Paula’s Choice Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser
I have horribly clogged pores, but am trying to cut down on exfoliating, so this gel product is exactly what I am looking for.

Floral Street Electric Rhubarb Fragrance
Again, perfect for the gym! I love the scent and the size – it’s perfect for popping in any away bag.

Beauty Kitchen Abyssinian Oil Handbag Beauty Balm
I use this product before bed on my hands to provide a thick protective layer of moisture. I wake up with super soft hands!

COLAB Dreamer Dry Shampoo
Since working from home, I have been trying to wash my hair even less (aiming for 2 weeks!) so I’ve been using this dry shampoo almost every day. My husband loves the scent as well!

Crabtree & Evelyn Evelyn Rose Velvet Body Melt
Just because we’ve started spring in self isolation doesn’t mean I’m going to be seen with ashy, scaly skin come summer. This lush body melt is a treat!

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple Review

Today I am reviewing Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple. Clean & Clear is a famous teen skin care brand that makes some of the best budget-friendly skin care products for oily and acne prone skin.

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple Review

It used to be my favourite skin care brand in teenage years. Till now I go back to my trusted Clean & Clear face washes from time to time whn my skin goes through bad acne bouts. Clean & Clear’s morning energy face wash range has fruit inspired face washes and the green apple variant is something I adore. Here’s more on this face wash.

About Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple makes you truly awake while leaving your skin clean and clear.

1. Menthol and bursting beads provide a cooling, tingling sensation on your skin that gives a burst of freshness in the morning

2. The face wash helps prevent common skin problems, without drying out your skin

3. The formula is non-comedogenic so it does not clog pores

5. Leaves skin feeling fresh, clean and clear

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple Review

Packaging: It comes in a transparent colourless plastic bottle. The bottle has screw open plus flip open cap so you can reuse the bottle when the wash gets over.  I have bought the smaller size; this one is available in two more sizes. The packaging is sturdy and very practical. The tiny bottle fits even the smallest of my purses.

Colour & Consistency: It is a transparent gel with pale green colour. It has runny texture. There are two tyoes of cleansing granules in it. The bigger green granules get dissolved with water and provides deep cleansing effects while the tiny granules are more mild scrubbing. The wash creates moderate amount of lather. It does not dry out the skin though.Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Purifying Apple Review

Fragrance: The face wash smells awesome. It has energizing green apple fragrance. The fragrance refreshes the senses. The smell does not last at all after rinsing. If you don’t like the fragrance, no worries! It won’t bother you for more than 4-5 minutes.

Quantity & Price: This Clean & Clear face wash is priced at Rs.65 for 50ml. This is one of the best quality acne face washes in the budget friendly category. This is a value for money proiduct for me. You can also avail 10-20% discount at sale time. This wash comes in two other sizes. The

My Overall Thoughts:

Last year my skin was going through severe acne. That’s when I bought this green apple based face wash. I have also tried the strawberry and lemon variant from this range but the green apple one is my favourite. I have repurchased it 3-4 times already and looks like I will be buying another bottle soon.

I use this face cleanser twice a day; once in the morning and once at night. Sometimes I skip my regular salicylic acid based face wash for this. This is a mild and non comedogenic face wash. The formula does not dry out my skin like the original Clean & Clear foaming face wash. I follow it up with a moisturizing toner and a light moisturizer.

It does not irritate the active pimples. It actually helps in drying them faster. The wash is good in quality but its scrub beads are pretty useless. The particles are scanty in the wash and they do not even do anything regarding exfoliation. Harsh scrubbing is not good for acne prone skin. I would have loved the wash more if it was free from those tiny granules.
